1/3/2025
Learn how to optimize your resume to pass Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) with formatting, keywords, and layout tips.
Applying for jobs online? Your resume might be getting rejected before a human even sees it. Here’s how to make sure your resume gets past the filters:
1. Use a Clean Layout
Avoid tables, columns, or graphics. Use simple headings like:
- Work Experience
- Education
- Skills
2. Keyword Match
Scan the job description and include relevant phrases naturally in your resume.
3. Save as PDF (or Word if required)
PDF is usually safe, unless the job post specifically says Word.
4. Avoid Fancy Fonts
Stick to readable fonts like Arial, Helvetica, or Calibri.
5. No Headers or Footers
Many ATS tools skip those areas. Keep it simple and clean.
